Tracking Your Progress
What it is
Every action you complete in Metanoia OS earns you XP (Experience Points), which feeds into two levels simultaneously:
- Domain Level — tracks your growth in each of the seven life areas
- Overall Level — a headline metric for your life-wide growth
Growth is visible, measurable, and rewarding.
How it works
- Every completed action earns XP for its domain and for your overall level
- Completing habits daily builds a streak, which unlocks a streak bonus that multiplies your XP
- As your overall level rises, you unlock Titles every 10 levels:
- Starting from Beginner at level 0
- All the way to Ethereal at level 100
- Each domain has its own progression — from Novice to Transcendent — rewarding balanced growth across all areas of life
- Badges recognize consistency and effort in specific action types — for example, task badges for completing 5, 15, or 100 tasks
You can view all of this from the Status Page, accessible through your profile picture. All your domain levels, overall progress, titles, and badges are displayed with instant visual feedback.
💡 A note on what levels mean: Your level reflects your personal progress on the goals you set for yourself, and the consistency with which you pursued them — two things Metanoia OS can genuinely measure, regardless of your background or starting point. They don't measure your real-world ability or experience compared to others. Two users at very different levels in the same domain could be equally skilled in real life, or even reversed. The numbers are a mirror for your own journey, nothing more.
Template Sharing
What it is
You don't have to build everything from scratch — and once you've built something that works, you don't have to keep it to yourself. Anything you create in Metanoia OS that's reusable — a day template, a routine, a quest, or an ability — can be shared with the community.
Three ways to share
- Post to the Global Feed — make it discoverable to anyone on Metanoia OS
- Post inside a room — share with a specific community you're part of
- Send directly — pass it to a friend or peer one-to-one
How to share
- Open the template, routine, quest, or ability you want to share
- Tap the Share icon in the corner of its detail view
- Choose where it goes — Global Feed, a specific room, or a direct recipient
- Add an optional note explaining what it's for or who it's helped
How to adopt what others share
- When you see something in the feed or a room that resonates, tap to preview it
- Tap Adopt to add it to your own system — instantly editable from there
- Your copy is yours to keep, tweak, or remix without affecting the original
💡 Tip: Template sharing is especially useful when you're just starting out. Instead of designing everything from zero, find a routine or day template close to what you need, adopt it, and adjust from there.
Community Rooms
What it is
Growth doesn't have to be a solo journey. Community Rooms are spaces where Metanoia OS users gather around a shared theme — to mingle, talk, and share what's working.
Public and private
- Public rooms are open to anyone. Join one to find people working on similar things — fitness, mindfulness, creative work, language learning, whatever you care about.
- Private rooms are invite-only. Create one for a tight crew — accountability partners, a study group, a few friends building habits together.
What happens inside a room
- Live conversation — talk, ask questions, share progress
- Shared templates — drop in a day template, routine, quest, or ability for the room to try
- Quiet accountability — the simple fact of being seen by people walking a similar path
Getting started
- From the left navigation, tap Community
- Browse public rooms by theme, or search for one that fits your goals
- Create your own — set it public or private, pick a theme, invite people
- Drop into any room and start talking, or just listen for a while
💡 Tip: You don't have to be loud in a room to get value from it. Lurk for a week — read what others post, adopt a template or two — before posting yourself. Accountability often starts with just showing up.
Journaling & Reflection
What it is
In the rush of planning and doing, it's easy to forget the most important step: reflecting on what's actually happening inside you. The journaling feature is designed to help you log your thoughts, track your energy, and build genuine self-awareness over time.
How to use it
- From the left navigation, tap Journal
- Tap New Entry:
- Give it a title
- Write freely — what's on your mind, how the day went, what you noticed
- Add context through media: photos, voice notes, videos, or files
- Mark your current state on the Energy-Pleasantness Matrix — a simple grid with four quadrants:
- Performance — high energy, pleasant (engaged, focused)
- Recovery — low energy, pleasant (calm, restful)
- Burnout — low energy, unpleasant (tired, depleted)
- Survival — high energy, unpleasant (anxious, overwhelmed)
- Drag the indicator to where you are right now. The system suggests a label for your current state (e.g. engaged, calm, tired, anxious) to give language to what you're feeling
- Over time, your entries are visualized so you can spot patterns in your emotional and energy states
What to look for
The goal is to spend more time in the Performance and Recovery quadrants — and less in Burnout or Survival. Noticing your patterns is the first step to changing them.
💡 Tip: You don't need to write a lot. Even a few sentences and a mood marker, done consistently, builds surprising insight over time. Think of it as data about yourself — the more entries you have, the clearer the picture becomes.
